Vahe, an agricultural academy student in Yerevan, had joined ABMDR in the early days of the Registry. In 2004, he became a match for a young girl in Italy, and did not hesitate to donate his cells. Consistent with international rules and regulations governing transplantations, Vahe and the little girl do not know each other, but the girl sends him a thank you note or letter with beautiful illustrations year after year. Here’s a sample (pix of the girls notes and drawings).  “I consider what I did my duty. If someone needs you, and his or her existence can be continued by you, how can you refuse to lend a hand” said Vahe, who was awarded Honorary Italian Citizenship by the Italian Ambassador in Armenia, Mr. Marco Clemente.
